Long before there was a workable plan to restore Union Station, Idamay Arsenault had a deep personal passion for the building. When the once great building was a crumbling white elephant, vacant except for those who inhabit the subterranean world of the homeless and the addicted, Arsenault had a hope that one day Union Station would be restored to glory. Her research led her to discover the building's rich past, and her skill as a photographer allowed her to chronicle its decrepitude and later its brilliant restoration.
Finally, her passion for this Worcester landmark led her to produce this book. It is at once a history of the station, the city, and the woman.
It is a brilliant tribute to a quintessentially Worcester monument.
