Woodsmen of the West is an authentic account of logging on the north coast of British Columbia in 19o7. Martin Allerdale Grainger gives us a thoughtful, amusing glimpse into this vanished world of virgin forests lining misty fjords, in the days of seven-foot saws, donkey engines, and double-bitted swamper's axes. The rain was endless, the boats were patched with dough and tin cans, and the work was hazardous and exhausting.
