Depots and stations on the Western Pacific Railroad were of various sizes and designs. A Mission Revival theme was used for the major depots; these were generally located west of Oroville. Winnemucca, Nevada, ended up with the only Mission-style depot East of Oroville! The design designated as the "Standard Desert Depot" was used for the Niles depot and for many of the depots in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys. There were also four one-and-a-half story depots. This plan was used when living accommodations were not readily available nearby. These were very similar to a standard Southern Pacific design used in that period. A hotel-style structure was also used at some division points.
