This volume is the fifth in our series dealing with the street railway lines of Pennsylvania on a county by county basis. In this volume we have dealt with the operating lines in two counties - Lycoming and Clinton - and with the propoperations in Tioga County.
There have been many difficulties in assembling this story. The rolling stock of the companies discussed present a particularly vexing problem and several portions of the book were revised and replated after it had been prepared for the press in order to take advantage of new information which had come to light, answering some questions and raising others. The history of the second hand equipment acquired by the Williamsport and Jersey Shore properties between about 1902 and 1904 may never be satisfactorily resolved but every effort has been made to present all available facts and possibilities known at press time.
