TRANSPORTATION REGULATION by Marvin L. Fair and John Guandolo is a comprehensive work on transportation law and regulation. It presents a comparison of the principal regulatory acts in transportation, namely; the Interstate Commerce Act, the Federal Aviation Act and the applicable Shipping and Merchant Marine Acts. It offers a comparative analysis of the regulatory functions of the Interstate Commerce Commission, Civil Aeronautics Board, Federal Maritime Commission, and Maritime Administration in the administration of these acts. The growing interest in comparative regulation and coordination among the modes suggests the importance of an integrated study of economic regulation of the modes of transportation. This eighth edition of Transportation Regulation was made necessary by the extensive revision of the Interstate Commerce Act, the Rail Passenger Act of 1970, the Regional Rail Reorganization Act of 1973, and the far-reaching Railroad Revitalization and Regulatory Reform Act of 1976. The government's role relating to railroad transportation was fundamentally changed. A considerable number of new and important cases not only respecting the work of the Interstate Commerce Commission but also respecting action by the Civil Aeronautics Board and the Federal Maritime Commission are included.
