In 1933, the whole lot was taken into the operational orbit of the London Passenger Transport Board, who speedily set about scrapping the trams, substituting trolleybuses in their stead, having as the precedent for this the London United Tramways trolleybus conversion scheme in the Kingston area in 1931.
