ARRANGEMENT OF THE BOOK
The main body of the book is divided into three sections: Down trains from Paddington, Up trains to Paddington and cross country services. Each service is described individually showing the number of vehicles normally conveyed, coach No.1 being the vehicle nearest the locomotive. Shown against each vehicle are the details of its previous and subsequent duties.
Down trains are ordered by departure time from Paddington and up services are listed by arrival time in London. Cross country services are in departure order with the caveat that there are instances where it is difficult to know exactly certain services (Liverpool/Manchester/Birkenhead to Plymouth, for example) started from.
As an anchor for the detail in the main sections, the relevent pages from Bradshaw (Winter 1931/2) guide - which do not reproduce well - are shown.
Finally, at the rear of the book the actual diagrams for individual coaches or sets of stock are listed.
