It gives my great pleasure to present Traction Yearbook '84. Believe it or not, this is already the fourth edition of this publication and, even as this is being written work is progressing on the next one. We hope you enjoy it.
What It's About: Some will be reading this book for the first time: I'd like to briefly explain the Yearbook's purpose. It details in words and photos the world's traction events for an approximate one-year period. Although it carries a 1984 date, the material starts late in 1982 and continues through early 1984. It is not intended as a current or news publication, but rather serves as one that documents traction events of a particular year. Traction Yearbook emphasizes conventional proven light rail transit and also offers coverage on metro trolleybus and heavy electric operations from around the world.
A Survey of electric street railways, trolleys, trams and light rail systems in the US, Canada and around the world. About half the book is a description of the latest news in each area followed by a black and white pictorial section. Also includes list of all cities with systems. With numerous maps.
All pictures are of the actual item. There may be reflection from the lights in some photos. We try to take photos of any damage. If this is a railroad item, this material is obsolete and no longer in use by the railroad. Please email with questions. Publishers of Train Shed Cyclopedias and Stephans Railroad Directories.
