It is with great pleasure that we present Traction Extra *2, The Presidents' Car - our way of commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the world's most famous streetcar -The PCC.

Realizing the Golden Anniversary of the PCC would occur in 1986. I began making plans for a publication to celebrate this event in 1980. As a start, the cover photo was taken during the summer of that year. Next, work was begun accumulating photos and preparing a detailed text on the car's history. Having no experience in book publishing, I found the task slow and arduous, but rewarding. To gain at least some experience, and to fulfill another of my desires, we published our first book. Traction Fan's Directory '80. Admittedly a beginner's effort in contrast to what we publish today, it was, nevertheless, our entrance into the world of publishing, and gave us a great deal of knowledge and insight into this particular field.

Then, in 1980, the first of a trilogy of excellent books about the PCC appeared (all from Interurban Press). As it would be unnecessary to produce duplicate material, my book was re-oriented to a black-and-white photo album of mostly previously unpublished PCC photos. However, most of the pietures would be converted from color slides. As time passed, more and more beautiful PCC color slides were discovered. Why not, I thought, publish a super tribute to the PCC, in the form of an all-color album? Since no other publisher had ever done this, the decision was made to produce the book you now have in your hands.
