If there is any need for proof that traction modeling does have a wide appeal, it can be found in the fact that traction models have been manufactured in just about every conceivable scale there is: Standard Scale, "0", "S", HO, HOn3, "00", TT and "N". Equally impressive is the number of firms or individuals who have produced five or fewer models in this field.
While by no means the greatest appeal, the economics of traction modeling make it easy to enter this area of model railroading. All that is required is one powered model, some track and switches, and a few buildings to model an urban trolley system. Or, such a set-up could serve equally well as one terminal for an interurban system. Even scenery is simplified in this case - such a city trolley system usually runs on flat surfaces, so the would-be traction modeler need not even fret if he can't create rolling hills and dales on his layout.
