Welcome to the First Edition of "Tracks of the New York City Subway"
As the title implies, this is a book of track maps of the New York City subway system. All the maps in this book are schematic representations of existing trackwork and stations and are absolutely not to scale.
This book is for subway and urban transit aficionadoes, railfans in general, and kidsof all ageswho ride New York's subway trains, noses pressed to the front window, trying to decipher that seemingly incomprehensible maze of tunnels, signals, rail and switches. With full-width operating cabs now becoming the norm, those precious front-window views are about to become a thing of the past. Let's enjoy them while we still can.
Although I've personally verified almost all the tracks depicted within the last two years, it's still possible that some errors exist. If you notice any mistakes (i.e. added or removed trackage, misspellings, missing switches, etc.) I'd really appreciate hearing from you so I can make revisions as quickly as possible.
In this first edition I have chosen to concentrate just on the trackwork itself, although I have also included some details on signaling. I've also included diagrams of two lines long gone (The Bronx' Third Avenue el and the Culver Shuttle). Additionally, I've also included the anticipated connection details from Queensbridge to the IND Queens Boulevard line.
All pictures are of the actual item. There may be reflection from the lights in some photos. We try to take photos of any damage.
