This issue of THE TIMETABLE COLLECTOR will deal with the Buffalo, NY area which is also called the Niagara Frontier. Any discussion of Buffalo also includes the Niagara Falls area. This issue will bring up a supposition that I have in that the Niagara Frontier region has been subject to the greatest number of railroad trackage abandonments than any other area in the nation.
In making that statement, I would also include abandonments of multiple trackage territory (double track that is now single track and four tracks that are now double track.). At the end of this issue I shall list those tracks that have been abandoned in the area and see if the membership can come up with an area of greater abandonments
