The first dramatic change was shifting to a four-passenger body in 1958, then in 1962 an exotic-looking Sports Roadster was created. By 1976 the plush Thunderbirds were almost limousine-like in size, and the handsome Birds of the eighties are the successful result of Ford's elaborate downsizing program.
Author Richard Langworth uncovered Thunderbird's complete history only after months of painstaking research and dedicated interviewing of those whom made the designs and decisions that steered Thunderbird's course for nine generations. Langworth's narration is wonderful reading; sure to inform and entertain T-bird enthusiasts of all persuasions. Delightful, too, are the more than 275 beautifully reproduced illustrations, including 23 in full color.
