SAGA of the SOO VOLUME II By John A. Gj evre
Part II of the Saga of the Soo Series  a pictorial account of the Soo Line Railroad in Minnesota, the Dakotas and
Montana: 1883 - 1990. 550 photographs, plus maps and many advertisements spanning nearly a century.
This book contains what the title implies  an account of the Soo Line Railroad throughout the three or more generations of its separate existence until its purchase by the Canadian Pacific in 1990.
The first volume in this series provided a broad spectrum approach to Soo Line history. This volume details specific lines, cities and revenue-producing industries as well as immigration accounts and analyses. Special sections by the four contributing authors serve to provide the reader with an understanding of the role the railroad played in settlement as well as the settler's impact of the Soo Line. A touching account of home life
in the second story of a Soo Standard depot is shared by the wife of a former depot agent, and Patrick Dorin has provided a concise essay regarding Soo Line ore trains and traffic.
Since only part of the rich history of the Soo Line Railroad has been detailed in these two volumes, it became  apparent that a third book will be needed to continue the saga of a mighty little road that valiantly served the northern plains with class, honor and distinction.
