buildings and railroad yards of the Pittsburgh \u0026amp; Lake Erie Railroad was the terminus for seventy-six passenger trains a day and many thousands of tons of freight and mail. It was, in its heyday, a primary transportation center that helped to shape the City of Pittsburgh into the great industrial center that it is today. Of those passenger trains, only one remains, a daily commuter to Beaver, and the freight facilities have since been shifted to other locations. Still standing are several major buildings that remind us of that feverish activity of the past, including the Terminal Building, The Freight House, The Shovel Warehouse and The Express House.
