18 DILLON COVE ON THE SILVERTON CENTRAL by Jon Addison Jon had always planned to have a body of water on his modular layout, and when he switched from point-to-point running to a continuous loop, he thought the time was right to build a scenic cove. The results are quite natural and realistic, as you can see from the color photos taken by Lane Stewart.
22 BUILDING THE CRIPPLE CREEK HOTEL by Eugene Cox This scratchbuilt hotel is perfect for the small mining town of Cripple Creek modeled on Gene's Sn3 layout. He tells us how he built this utilitarian and authentic-looking building.
23 MODERNIZING THE RAILMASTER SWITCHER by Alexander Zelkin Alex wanted to modify the Railmaster Baldwin-built C-48 0-6-0 switcher to fit into his Degulbeef & Cradding Railway's mid-'20s time frame. He used some suggestions from Railmaster and his own ideas to produce a good-looking modernized locomotive.
24 BUILDING A KITSON MOGUL 2-6-0 by Marcelo Lordeiro The winning model for the Sn3 Modeler Award at the 2001 National Narrow Gauge Convention in Salt Lake City is a South American version of a British-built Mogul. The original builder's drawings are reproduced here, along with color and black and white photos of the prototype and model.
31 IRON MEN AND THEIR IRON HORSES by Bill Meredith Bill's Denver, South Park & Pacific Railroad #63 inspired reflections on the narrow gauge of a century ago. David Steer took the photo of the Sn3 locomotive on pages 20-21.
