REVIEW OF THE RAILMASTER C-16 by John Trier John has been working on this beautiful Sn3 steam locomotive all summer and reports on his construction experiences with the kit version. He also took photos of the locomotive in various stages of construction.
RICH MINES AND RAILROADS ABOUND IN RED MOUNTAIN TOWN/THE FAMOUS OPHIR LOOP by John Norwood These two areas of Colorado were once booming mining and railroading centers. Narrow gauge expert John Norwood takes us on a tour of these gone-but-not-forgotten spots in the Rocky Mountains.
REBUILDING THE DEGULBEEF & CRADDING by Alexander Zelkin It was a shame when Alex had to dismantle the D&C to move back to his native France a few years ago, but now there is going to be a new home for his Sn3 empire. He sent us a description and colorful drawings of his plans for the new D&C.
NEVADA-PACIFIC #10 BRINGS UP THE REAR by Geoffrey Stippes Number 10 was a baggage car converted to a caboose; Geoffrey's Sn3 model required some delicate building techniques, but it turned out excellently, as evident in the color and black and white photographs.
WEST SIDE LUMBER CO. POWDERHOUSE PLOW by Pete Nelson Pete was inspired by an On3 model of this plow to build his own in S scale. Although he couldn't discover much about the prototype, this recreation seems pretty accurate, and Pete says he learned a lot in the building process.
TURNING LOCOS AT THE PAINTED LADY MINE by Bernie Levine The Crow's Foot turntable at the Painted Lady Mine has always been a favorite spot on Bernie's San Juan & Southwestern Sn3 pike. Construction of the turntable, which Bernie describes for us, was a joint effort involving three people.
DINING IN STYLE ON THE ALAMOSA by John Norwood John describes in detail the D&RGW's 41-foot-long Alamosa which featured a highly-polished walnut interior, carpeted floors and other refinements. In addition, A.J. Kamm supplies S scale plans for this car.
