THE TOWN OF JACKSONVILLE-the county seat no less-had been cut off by mainline railroad engineers and the townspeople didn't like it. They decided to build their own railroad thus the Rogue River Valley Railway (1891-1925) was born. Jokers called it "a 'tea-kettle' operation" because its single car was l pulled by a Shetland Pony-size locomotive, far too underpowered to be effective.
A mid-life crisis: The railroad was electrified!
