DUST JACKET INTRODUCTION
Stephen's interest in railroading was spurred on by his fathers "closet interest in trains. Stephen spent five years of college at Kansas State University in Manhattan and one year at the University of Kansas in Lawrence studying architecture and then engineering. Since that time he has worked for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway (now BNSF) in an myriad of capacities. He has worked as an Assistant Trainmaster, Assistant Manager of Track Geometry and Manager of Special Projects where he was in charge of moving the Kansas City Regional Dispatching Center to Chicago. Some of his architectural projects include the Kansas City "Checkpoint Chico", Piggy-Back checkpoint and the DSF Load Test facility at Argentine.
During his college years, he and his wife developed a labor of love "Santa Fe Newsletter" (a monthly, not-for-profit, current news periodical sent to a few acquaintances). This endeavor led to the coeditor position (with Cinthia) of the Santa Fe column for CTC Board Magazine for a number of years. Also an avid and accomplished modeler, Stephen has won numerous modeling awards and has been published in at least eight different model railroading magazines, including one cover.
