This engine model is from a Model Die Casting Santa Fe 1480 Class 4-4-2 kit and the tender is from a Key 1050 Class 2-6-2. The two were combined and converted into a Santa Fe 550 Class "Bullmoose" Atlantic. The conversion was accomplished by following the general outlines of an article by Bill Schopp in the July, 1968 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman. The tender was altered by removing 1/16" from the bottom of the oil bunker. This allows the bunker top to be about six scale inches lower than the tender side panels. A prototype example of this reworked tender resides behind display locomotive 1067 at Wellington, KS.
