INTRODUCTION
The Series
We hope that this volume will be the first in a series in which Santa Fe's engine servicing facilities are explained and documented as detailed as possible using photographs, drawings and personal histories. The volumes will be divided according to the mid-1960 organization of the railroad (Gulf, Western, Eastern and Coast Lines). This series will be based on the Fuel Oil, Water Service, and Evaluation photos supplemented by additional research and images from other sources to fill in the gaps in the historic records. The pace, completeness and order of publication will be dependent upon our finding the key pieces of information we presently lack. Contributions of any kind are welcomed with compensation consisting of a copy of the volume in which the items are utilized.
