A s this book is being compiled, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe merger is in its infancy. Although the ICC has given the two railroads the "thumbs up" and the two parties have begun the long and complex process of merging office and managerial positions, the future of the locomotive and car fleets is, as of yet, undecided. The Santa Fe is still remanufacturing its car fleet at Topeka, Kansas. This remanufacturing is currently unaltered by the merging process. Santa Fe is still adorning her fleet in the utilitarian Mineral Brown and sticking a 24" Circle Cross herald up in the left hand corner of each car. The "Q"s have been discontinued, albeit not because of the merger.
Contained within this book is a detailed listing of most of the Santa Fe's Bx classed cars complete with rosters, dimensional data, quantities owned, photographs and a variety of paint schemes. It is my hope that this book will be taken with you into the field and into the hobby shop being used as a guide to what is and what has been out there. Happy hunting!
