SAIMA's origins go back to 1816. That's the year when the Innocente Mangili one-man business started up. In 1933 this firm converted to a joint-stock company at the same time that it merged with the Adriatica di Spedizioni Co., which had been founded in Trieste in 1904, then assuming the name "SocietAnonima Mangili Adriatica - Casa di Spedizione"
In 1951 the company name was changed to the one it still bears: "Societper Azioni lnnocente Mangili Adriatica - Spedizioni Internazionali"
At the time of the 1933 merger business was handled out of two head-offices, Milan and Trieste, and branches in Venice, Genoa, Naples, Monza, Rome and Florence. After getting through the difficulties connected with World War II, expansion has been continuous in all areas and reached the present level of 42 branches in Italy, each one of which can handle any type of shipment.
SAIMA has its own offices and equipment in the principal cities, ports and airports of Italy and, today, has the capability to meet every requirement of its customers, making use of its own operating organization and the cooperation of more than 50 selected corresponding firms all over the world.
