Rolling Stock Plan Book of HO and O Gauge Car Plans Soft Cover
1957, SECOND revised edition, SECOND printing 1971.  64 pages
THIS book was made possible only by being able to draw on the tremendous file  of specially prepared car drawings of RAILROAD MODEL CRAFTSMAN Magazine, made by skilled craftsman hobbyists over the past 28 years. These names sound like a Who's Who of modeldom: Lewis Austin, John Berkeley, Frederick Braun, Jim Berge, R. Bunnell, Loren Butts, Jack J. Berry, Jr., Eric Brunger, Sherman Dance, Sharpe Delaney, C. K. Focht, Lloyd Giebner, Ulrich B. Graff, Walter J. Hill, Richard Martini, John Mulholland, Willis L. Nye, William Schopp, Joseph Wilhelm, Charles Yungkurth, and those few others whose names have become lost through +he passage of time. Special thanks must also be given to Manville B. Wakefield whose superb scratchboard drawing of freight operations on the Southern Pacific appears on our cover.
This Second edition of the ROLLING STOCK PLAN BOOK represents a major revision of the RMC ROLLING STOCK MANUAL firs+ published in 1957.
More than one third of the drawings contained in this volume are presented in this work for the first time and cover the complete range of railroad rolling stock.
This new edition also includes a large number of prototype photographs, specially selected for their sharpness and angles as an aid in modeling and lettering.
The great bulk of the plans are reproduced to HO scale, with a liberal sprinkling of 0 scale drawings. A few detail drawings are otherwise indicated.
Should any drawing appear in a scale other than that in which you work, convert it easily and at low cost to your specific needs by means of a phototat. You will find a listing of photostat houses in your telephone yellow book section.
The ROLLING STOCK PLAN BOOK contains plans of a representative collection of North American passenger, freight, annd company service equipment cars. Special emphasis has been placed on cars which can easily be built by the reader using readily available building materials carried in stock by most neighborhood model railroad hobby shops.
The recent trend toward railroad mergers and modernization of railroad car lettering and painting procedures would make it desirable for the builder to consult the lettering guides put out by decal manufacturers for the latest in lettering information. Some train watching at the depot will also prove useful.
Some of the plans contained herein are old timers which may be of too old a period for-revenue service. Such cars can often be painted tuscan and assigned to work train service. Many 1944 vintage Troop Pullmans have been put into work train or express service.
