This is the story of the Roddis Lumber & Veneer Co. railroad, popularly known as the Roddis Line, one of the last major logging railroads of the Middle West,

which from 1903 to 1938 hauled logs, piling, posts, pulpwood, sawdust, lumberjacks and berry pickers through the Wisconsin north woods between Park Falls and the headwaters of the Chippewa and the Flambeau.

Included also is the history of the adjacent Dells & Northeastern Railway,

the last common carrier railroad to be built in Wisconsin, and a Roddis subsidiary

for part of its short life which extended from 1936 to 1947.

Richly illustrated with 200 rare photographs of all phases of railroad and logging operations. Produced in a format similar to the author's

Thunder Lake Narrow Gauge (1961).
