This is the second edition, telling in words and pictures the story of the Sodus Bay line, known as the Royal Blue Line. Mr. Lloyd E. Klos and I spent three years in research, interviews and collecting data in an effort to write the story of the "Royal Blue Line" in 1952.
Important facts were obtained from Poor's Manuals, The Rochester Public Library, Mr. Leon H. Brown of the Rochester Transit Corporation, the late Mr. Herman Hicks of the Rochester Railway Company and the New York State Railways.
The author, when eighteen years of age, was a part-time conductor on the Glen Haven line, and has been personally acquainted with many of the employees who have contributed so generously to the completion of this book. The author expresses his thanks and appreciation to Mr. Thomas Hicks and Sons of Batavia, N. Y.; Mr. Felix E. Reifschneider of Fairton, N. J.; Miss Bellie B. Marks of the "Sodus Record"; "The Webster Herald"; Mr. Gilbert Hunt; Mrs. Gertrude Schneiberger; John A. Rehur; Mr. Alfred Salter and the late Arthur Weinman. Thanks also go to these members of the National Railway Historical Society . . .. John Woodbury, Robert 0. Waters, Howard E. Johnston, Steven D. Maguire, George Layton, A. W. Crittenden, and Clarence M. Kemrer.
Former employees of the Sodus Line, who were most helpful.
