Rochester & Sodus Bay Railroad, The Story of the The Irondequoit Park Railroad / The Rochester and Glen Haven Railroad The Royal Blue Line by William Gordon Soft Cover 1952
Not one book has ever been written, telling in words and pictures the story of the Rochester and Sodus Bay Railroad. However, Lloyd E. Klos and I have, for three years, engaged in research, interviews and collecting data in an effort to publish the story of the "Royal Blue Line".
Important facts were obtained from Poor's Manuals, the Rochester Public Library, Mr. Leon Brown of the Rochester Transit Corporation, and Mr. Herman Hicks of the Rochester Railway Co.
The writer, when eighteen years of age, was a part-time conductor on the Glen Haven line, and has been personally acquainted with many of the employees who have contributed so generously to the completion of this book. The writer expresses his thanks and appreciation to Mr. Thomas Hicks and Sons of Batavia, N. Y.; Mr. Felix E. Reifschneider of Orlando, Florida; Miss Bessie B. Marks of the Sodus Record; the Webster Herald; Mr. Gilbert Hunt; Mr. Alfred Salter and Mr. Arthur Weinman. Thanks also go to these members of the National Railway Historical Society----John Woodbury, Robert O. Waters, Steve Maguire, George Layton and A. W. Crittenden.
Former employees of the Sodus Bay line who were also most helpful are Carl Gardner, Leon Hill, Ed Mahns, Peter Bodine, Robert F. Robertson, Aubrey Austin, Fred Benham and Charles Schneider. Thanks are due to any others who might have been unintentionally overlooked.
