The main focal point of the book is to cover the glory years between 1800 and 1955. It is my intention to maintain the high level of intensity and photographic detail that all previous volumes established. As in Book 2 and 3, additional passenger and freight train action photographs have been used to give this volume a well-rounded read. The Reading Railroad was a two dimensional railroad-it only ran east or west. North on the timetable was west and south was east.
I have been asked several times about the intentions of this series. The truth be told, my plan and order for the books is flexible. It is my ultimate dream goal to cover the entire Reading Company system, a daunting task that will prove extremely difficult. After the completion of the Main Line, the PG&N Norristown Branch or the Lebanon Valley Branch may follow. Maintaining the level of photographic detail in the future publications may prove to be difficult.
