ON THE BACK COVER
This omnibus of three of Kelton's popular novels tells the story of the formative years of the Texas Rangers.
In Ranger's Trail, young Rusty Shannon, who joined the Texas "ranging companies" just after the Civil War, sets out to find and kill the man who murdered his fianc, unaware that he may be dogging the trail of the wrong man.
In Texas Vendetta, Rusty is paired with a difficult partner, Civil War veteran Farley Brackett. The two men must deliver a prisoner named Jayce Landon to the sheriff of a distant county. The rangers are riding directly into a blood feud, since Landon killed a member of a rival gang.
In Jericho's Road, Andy Pickard, who as a child was taken captive by Comanches and called "Badger Boy," is assigned to ride patrol on the Texas-Mexico border and finds that his few miles of ground along the Rio Grande lie at the center of a deadly range war.
"KELTON'S EXQUISITE STYLE DEVELOPS THE THEMES OF A LOVE OF LIBERTY AND A SUSPICION OF AUTHORITY THAT TAPS DEEP INTO TEXAS'S HERITAGE."
James L. Haley, author of Passionate Nation: The Epic History of Texas
"ONE THING IS CERTAIN: AS LONG AS THERE ARE WRITERS AS SKILLFUL AS ELMER KELTON, WESTERN LITERATURE WILL NEVER DIE." True West magazine
"KELTON CREATES A STORY RICH IN HISTORICAL CONTEXT, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, AND ACTION." Houston Chronicle
"As ALWAYS, MR. KELTON'S HISTORY IS ACCURATE AND HIS CHARACTERS CLEARLY DRAWN AND BELIEVABLE." The Dallas Morning News on Jericho's Road
