Our Cover: Completed in 1909, Canadian Pacific's trestle at Lethbridge, Alberta, stands over a deep gully formed by the Old Man River. a spectacular sight on the Alberta Prairie- Known as a "wonder of the world," the structure was built on CP's Crowsnest Pass Subdivision to reduce the distance between Lethbridge and Fort MacCleod. Its 33 towers and 67 spans contain more than 12,000 tons of steel, making up a structure more than a mile long and 314 feet high at its greatest depth. It takes 7,600 gallons of paint to cover the whole thing, and its original cost was $1,340,525.
