The 4,000 h.p. Brush 'Kestrel' Co-Co prototype locomotive runs on tyres, wheels and axles made by British Steel Corporation. The heavy duty mixed traffic bogie has 43-in. diameter wheels with tyres of Neumann profile. The locomotive incorporates many electrically controlled features including wheel-slip detection and dynamic braking.
