And these are not isolated examples.
From the time you get up in the morning until you go to bed at night, virtually everything you use has traveled by rail at some point in its production-and-distribution process. And most things have made many such trips in one form or another.
Why by rail?
Because railroads provide the kind of fast, dependable, low-cost, high-volume transportation so essential to our mass-production economy - and to our high standard of living.
