However, the editorial staff has combined information from the first edition with important events which have occurred since 1953 and has virtually produced a new book. The new version has been identified as a revised edition with no specific references to steam locomotives. Corrections, deletions, additions, and adjustments to the original format and texts have been accomplished wherever necessary. Additional entries have enlarged the photograph sections, and available technical data have been listed underneath the captions of many locomotive photographs.
