From the Publisher,
Richard T. ("Dick") Loane (1915-1999), like most of us, caught the "bug" early; as a teenager in Summit, NJ. Fascinated by the proud upkeep and slick operation of hometown DL&W, his understanding of other nearby lines was abetted by the spread of rail excursions, now seemingly every weekend and on the most exotic routings in hopes of earning the participating roads a few extra bucks during the Depression. Volume 1 covered the DL&W and connections L&HR and RV; Volume 2 will show the lines south of the DL&W and Summit: the CNJ, RDG, B&O, LV, P-RSL, PRR, and RR. Like the first volume, the sequencing of photos and captions are all Dick's. He wrote the captions simultaneously within a few days or weeks of taking the photos making his observation from 75 years ago quite interesting.
