TOP: ANACOSTIA RIVER CROSSING CSX 1031-23 is rolling southbound across the Anacostia River Bridge with a mixture of TOFC and COFC in tow, with a DPU halfway back in the consist. February 23, 2023. This train, and its northbound counterpart 1032, are two premier trains that traverse CSX's Atlantic Coast corridor. Good photo angles of the Anacostia River Bridge are available from a boat launch area in Anacostia River Waterside Park. and from M Street S.E. in Washington, D.C. Story on page 22.

BOTTOM: RETURN OF THE ADIRONDACK ! The first Amtrak Adirondack in over three years rolls into Westport, New York, on Monday, April 3, 2023. Town officials, the photographer's family, and a handful of railfans greeted the train in the small Essex County town. Resumption of Adirondack service brings Amtrak's route map to its pre-Covid level. Story on page 31. Harrison Smith
