Rail Enthusiast is published monthly. Front Cover. DP2, the highly successful English Electric prototype and forerunner of the Class 50, is pictured in Camden depot in June 1962. This locomotive worked initially on the LMR and thence the ER where it was treated as the 23rd Deltic. The loco met its end in the Thirsk collision with the derailed Cliffe-Uddingston cement train in August 1967. The EE Company scrapped the prototype at Vulcan Foundry, but the power unit lives on and is currently fitted in Class 50 No.50016. Photo: Geoff Rixon.
