RAIL CANADA Volume I is a detailed illustrated reference to the painting, lettering/numbering and classification of the diesel locomotive operated by the Canadian National Railways and its subsiduaries during the past 38 years. Also included is an all-time diesel roster, a class description section, and a listing of scale models that may be used by a modeler to represent diesels of the C.N. system.
Due to the magnitude of this work and the drafting time required, only a representative outline of each basic type of locomotive has been shown with the various paint schemes applied. Even this "simple" approach resulted in over 170 side elevation drawings being made and nearly that many end elevations.
