This extensively illustrated book tells the story of the Postlingbergbahn, a railway, which climbed the Post-lingbers from the Linz district of Urfahr between 1898 and 2008. After its upgrading and connection to the urban tram network in spring 2009, a ride on the Postlingbergbahn now starts at Hauptplatz right in the heart of the city. Combining tradition and new technology was a great challenge, resulting in modernized vehicles from the 1950's sharing service with new low-floor trams in retro look. The Postlingbergbahn is unique in many ways: its construction was a pioneering achievement, and even today, with a maximum gradient of 112 '1,, it is recognized as the steepest adhesion railway in Europe.
