During the winter of 1976, the Long Island Rail Road took delivery of new GP38-2 locomotives from EMD. Standard colors are blue and white, but No. 252 had red substituted for the middle blue band in honor of the nations Bicentennial. 252 lays over at Ronkonkoma, N.Y. for the weekend. February 16, 1976
