COVER: Maglev technology uses magnetic energy to levitate a train-like vehicle over a guide rail at speeds in excess of 200 miles per hour. With the nation's highways and air corridors becoming gridlocked, many transportation planners says it's time to re-examine the benefits of rail transport for passengers and goods. A high-speed rail system, which may include maglev, is being proposed for Pennsylvania and will directly benefit rural electric cooperatives and their consumer-members.
