The Mile High City would be Otto's home for the remainder of his life. His longtime career with the U.S. Post Office Department, starting circa 1912, was interrupted only by military service during World War I. A lifelong bachelor, Otto would ultimately spend much of his free time pursuing an interest he had had in trains since childhood. While the legend might be a bit exaggerated, his record is still impressive in that he did take more than 20,700 images of trains--as well as some of buses, airplanes, airships and boats.
