BOOK IS A LITTLE WARPED IN THE CORNERS - POSTCARDS ARE IN GREAT SHAPE but the ones at the bottom edge of the book have a little crease

Take a trip back in time with this charming and easily affordable collection of turn-of-the-century trolley-car postcards. With the Main Streets of cities and towns across the nation as backdrops, these 24 full-color reproductions of rare original cards provide a nostalgic glimpse of a bygone era of public transportation.
Here are conveyances that offered a cool ride on hot, summer days; generated a considerable amount of civic pride (note the number of photographs taken while passengers and crew stood alongside the cars); and most important, served as a major mode of transport, both within and between cities.
The cars touched the lives of many, connecting small communities with metropolitan areas and often carrying groceries, newspapers and mail. Trolleys were also available for school or business picnics, weddings and even funerals! They came in a variety of shapes and sizes: along San Francisco's congested Market Street, blunt-ended trolleys vied with horse-drawn carriages and covered wagons; a gigantic bilevel car in New York City, nicknamed the "Broadway Battleship," was the city's best-remembered double-decker; and a sturdy, two-car train in San Antonio, Texas that regularly made a 40-mile-long "observation trip," is shown standing ready with its properly attired crew.
Identifying captions appear on the reverse side of each card, where there is also space for a brief message and mailing address. The postcards are perforated for easy detachment, and the convenient book format keeps them handy and clean until ready for use. A thoughtful way to share a love of the past with friends and relatives, this volume is sure to delight trolley-car enthusiasts, nostalgia buffs and collectors of all ages.
