Norfolk and Western Magazine is published monthly (except  August) at Roanoke Va. Vol57 #3. About the cover, NW freight train crossing Mississippi River at Hannibal, Missouri, on NW's Kansas City, Mo.-Springfield-Decatur, Illinois run. Hannibal is Mark Twain country. Missouri's second bridge across Mississippi River was constructed here in 1871. Hannibal got started in 1812 and rapidly became a center for lumber, grain, tobacco and pork.
