Crawford, manager of NW's Photographic Services, took the cover photo of Shaffers Crossing (Roanoke Terminal) on a bright day in May. The picture gives an overall view of the area involved in the story on page 2 concerning NW's automated classification and control system. An average of more than 85 trains arrive and depart Roanoke on a daily basis.
