N&W Norfolk and Western Employee Magazine 1946 March Worlds Best Safety Device
ALL pages are RIPPLED. Pages are not stuck together.
Norfolk and Western Magazine is published every month in Roanoke, Va. THE FRONT COVER of this issue points out what we all know but sometimes forget-that accident prevention begins in our brains. Unless we think before we act, unless we remember the Safety Rules, unless we keep our minds on our business we're usually headed for trouble. We hope you'll resolve to make maximum use of that gray matter of yours both on and off the job during the remainder of the year. As you read this issue of the Magazine, which features our 1945 Safety Record, remember that the great majority of the injuries and deaths which occurred on our railroad last year were due to thoughtlessness, indifference to one's own safety, or violations of Safety Rules.
The man who appears in the picture is William Whitlock, Roanoke Yard brakeman. Mr. Whitlock is a former member of the Roanoke Terminal Safety Committee and a safe worker. It wasn't difficult for Mr. Whitlock to pose for our picture because he makes it a habit to think and practice Safety.
