N&W Norfolk and Western Employee Magazine 1941 February Keeping the Wheels Rolling
ALL pages are RIPPLED. Pages are not stuck together.
Norfolk and Western Magazine is published every month in Roanoke, Va. THE FRONT COVER of this issue, we believe, expresses the spirit which animates the railroad men of America. It is the spirit of readiness and willingness to serve the nation by serving well the business in which they arc engaged. Every person on the railroad pay roll, whether he is a shop man, a clerk or a section man, is an integral part of one of America's most essential industries. And whether your job is to repair locomotives, like the man on the cover, or to file correspondence, you are helping to "keep the wheels rolling." Upon the quality and stability of your work depends the quality and stability of your railroad's service. The best contribution any citizen can make to national defense is to do the job to which he is assigned the best he possibly can.
P. S. The name of the man on the cover is W. E. Holbrook, a machinist at Portsmouth Shop. He is connecting the front end of the eccentric rod on a "1200" locomotive. To the supervisors and employees of Portsmouth Shop who assisted in making the picture-hearty thanks.
