Douglas Parker has been fortunate in having had access to the copy and minute books of the street railway companies which were the predecessors of the British Columbia Electric Railway. As a result, the author has been able to trace the developers' difficulties in dealing with reverse-wound motors, inferior carbon brushes, financial crises, and dishonest citizens who attempted to turn pound refugees into pedigreed animals.
