FOREWORD
This guide, Volume III of "The New York State Coaster Collector", completes the task I began nearly two years ago, that is, cataloging all or at least most of the beer coasters issued by New York State breweries. The work involved in compiling this guide proved to be even more challenging than that of the previous two volumes. The greater New York City area was once home to many, many breweries with numerous drinking establishments to support them. Coasters were (and still are) a major form of advertising in these bars, restaurants and grills.This is evident not only by the sheer number of coasters cataloged in this guide but also in the workmanship that went into the design of these miniature "works of art". It is easy to see why New York City is a beer coaster collectors paradise. I believe that this guide contains at least 90% of the coasters that are "out there". I sincerely hope that those who refer to this guide will find it helpful in building their collections.
