Front: A movement view of the #3819, M. I. Tobias & Co. pocket watch, with the Massey III escapement. Its case is hallmarked 1816. Note how the cock is engraved "Patent" and the foot of the cock, "Detached," as are all the watches made by M. I. Tobias & Co. in the 1816 series. See pages 663 and 672 for dial views of the 3819. Made in Lancaster Co. by the prolific maker Martin Shreiner, ca. 1810, the clock's 8-day movement has English-style cut pinions, turned pillars, and grooved barrels. It has 11 bells, 7 tunes, and a self-changing cylinder. The dial is marked with the maker's handsome script signature and #201. See page 721 for NAWCC Curator Pat Tomes' description of the clock.
