Welcome to the National Capital Trolley Museum! Owned and operated by the National Capital Historical Museum of Transportation, Inc., NCTM offers you an opportunity to step backward in time and ride a relaxed and unhurried mode of transport from yesteryear, the trolley car.A group of local streetcar and railroad enthusiasts got together in March 1959 and incorporated the Museum. After searching several years for a site on which to build an operating streetcar museum, NCHMT reached an agreement with the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission. The Commission agreed to permit free use of land in Northwest Branch Regional Park providing NCHMT built the line entirely from its own resources.
